• Description:
International Association for Mediterranean and Oriental Studies (ISMEO) is a non-profit association with a statutory purpose to conduct study, training, and research programs related to the cultures and countries of Asia and Africa, and their interactions with the Mediterranean basin. It possesses significant experience in promoting cultural, scientific, and cooperation relations with various national and international institutions. Its headquarters are in Rome, Italy.
• Role in ARC-HE-TOUR-DEV:
ISMEO will support the operations for the creation of tourist routes and extraordinary maintenance of the Aruch site (Activity A.1.4). Furthermore, they will collaborate in the planning and creation of the integrated tourism system for the Aruch area, including the preparation of the integrated management plan and the implementation of a pilot integrated marketing campaign (Activity A.2.1).
• Expertise:
Since 2022, ISMEO has been managing the Armenian-Italian archaeological mission in Aruch and the Silk Road Castellated System, established in agreement with the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (IAE NAS RA) and supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
