• Description:
The Opificio delle Pietre Dure (OPD) is a special autonomous institute of the Italian Ministry of Culture. It serves as a national center of excellence in the conservation of artworks, carrying out restoration, research, and high-level training activities. It is based in Florence, Italy.

• Role in ARC-HE-TOUR-DEV:
OPD will provide crucial support for the design and implementation of the Garni mosaics restoration (Activity A.1.1). They will also collaborate in the planning and creation of the integrated tourism system for the Garni area (Activity A.2.1), contribute to field training activities in mosaic restoration (Activity A.3.1) and in archaeological site management (Activity A.3.2).

• Expertise:
OPD boasts a highly qualified international sector dedicated to Mosaic and Florentine Commesso restoration. The Institute has a rich history of restoration interventions in Italy and abroad and offers continuous specialized training through its High Training and Study School, as well as internships and traineeships for Italian and foreign professionals.
